Common Name or Meaning Lewis' Pleurothallis [Margaret Ward Lewis American Orchid Enthusiast and collector of species current]

Found in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama in wet forests at elevations of sealevel to 750 meters as a small sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with reclining to ascending ramicauls enveloped by a muriculate, tubular sheath and carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, more or less prostrate, overlapping, minutely subverrucose, elliptical, obtuse, cuneate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the later summer and fall on a slender, sublax, subsecund, to .4" [1 cm] long, successively 3 to 6 flowered inflorescence arising from near the apex of the ramicaul with acute, muriculate floral bracts.
Similar species include P rabei, P jamaicensis, P dalesandroi, P burzlaffiana and P sanchezii
