Common Name Tonduz's Stelis [Costa Rican Orchid Enthusiast 1900's]

Found in Costa Rica in montane wet forests at elevations around 1500 to 2000 meters as a small to medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped by 3, inflated, evanescent sheaths and carrying a single, apical, elliptic-oblong, obtuse and apically tridenticulate, cuneate below into the caniculate, petiolate base leaf that blooms on a subdistichous, erect to arched, 4.8 to 11.2" [12 to 28 cm] long including the 1.2 to 1.6” [3 to 4 cm] long peduncle, densely many flowered inflorescence arising through a spathe and with large, cucullate, acuminate floral bracts and carrying subnutant, transverse or non resupinate flowers
