Found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and northwestern Venezuela at elevations around 2700 to 2900 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with an abbreviated stem enveloped basally by 2 to 3, scarious, tubular, acute sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, oblong-elliptic, subacute, gradually narrowing below into the elongated petilolate base leaf that blooms on a 4" to 5.5" [10 to 14 cm] long, loosely 8 to 10 flowered inflorescence
