Common Name The Fringed Scaphosepalum [Refers to the long-fimbriate carinae and tails of the lateral sepals]

Found in northern Ecuador at elevations of 750 to 1200 meters as a miniature to small sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with erect to suberect, slender, ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 loose, tubular sheaths with a single, apical, erect, thinly coriaceous, elliptical, acute leaf that is cuneate below to the slender petiole that blooms on a erect to descending, loose, successively several flowered racemose, 2 1/2" long inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul and with successively opening flowers that can occur at any time of the year.
