Found in Ecuador as a miniature sized, cool to warm growing epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 5 to 7, thin, whitish, oblique, compressed, imbricating sheaths and carrying a single, erect, coriaceous, suffused with purple beneath, ovate, subacute to obtuse, broadly cuneate to rounded below and contracted into the twisted, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a terminal, single flowered, fasciculate inflorescence holding the flowers behind and above the leaf and carrying a thin, tubular floral bract..
