Found in Peru in cloud forests at elevations around 3050 meters as a small sized, cold growing epiphyte with stout, fasciculate, erect ramcauls enveloped by a close sheath near the middlwe and 2 to 3 tubular sheaths at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, elliptical-oblong, subacute to obtuse, broadly cuneate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the later winter on a 3 to 6, congested, secund, 5.2 to 6" [13 to 15 cm] long, simultaneously many flowered inflorescence arising through a spathe at the base of the leaf
