Found in Ecuador and northern Peru in wet montane forests at elevations around 1500 to 2800 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 tubular sheaths and another below the middle and carrying a single, apcial, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, acute, acuminate, cuneate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the spring on 1 to 4, erect, dense, 3.2 to 6.4" [ 8 to 16 cm] long, simultaneously many flowered, racemose inflorescence arising through a spathe at the base of the leaf with tublar floral bracts.
