Found in Pichincha province of Ecuador at elevations of 1200 to 2500 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with slender, suberect ramicauls enveloped by 3 to 4, loose, ribbed sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, ovate, subacute, contracted and twisted into a bent petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on a capillary, 1/2 to 1" [1.2 to 2.4 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence enveloped completely by an erect spathe arising from near the apex of the ramicaul.
