Common Name The Small Heart Pleurothallis [refers to the leaf and the labellum]

Found in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia at elevations of 700 to 2600 meters as a medium sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with slender, suberect to horizontal ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 close basal tubular sheaths and another towards the middle and carrying a single, apical, spreading to suberect, coriaceous, narrowly ovate, acute, basally rounded, shallowly cordate and sessile leaf that blooms at most any time of the year on a single, successive flowered inflorescence arising through a spathe with the flower lying against the center of the leaf [prostrate]
This species is related to P cubitoria restricted to southern Ecuador and P tamaensis which is restricted to Venezuela. This one is distinguished by a shorter dorsal sepal, shorter lip and shorter petals
