Found in Antioquia Colombia in cloud forests at elevations around 3150 meters as a small sized, cold growing epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls with a thin tubular sheath above the middle and 2 to 3 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, rigid, thickly coriaceous, suberect to spreading, narrowly ovate, acute, rounded to subcordate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the winter on a fascile of successively single, few flowered inflorescence arising through and concealed by a reclining spathe at the base of the leaf and has a tubular floral bract.
