Common Name Lehmann's Pleurothallis [German Engineer, Counsel to Colombia and Botanist 1800's]

Found in southern Colombia and northernmost Ecuador in cloud forests at elevations of 3000 to 3400 meters as a large sized, cold growing epiphyte with stout, fasciculate, erect ramicauls enveloped by a loose, tubular sheath near the middle and 2 to 4, large, loose, imbricating sheaths at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, ovate, acute, cuneate to rounded and contracted below into the the conduplicate petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a fascile of several, simultaneous, erect, congested, 6 to 8" [15 to 20 cm] long, simultaneously many flowered inflorescence arising through a broad spathe with an annulus at the apex of the ramicaul below the abscission layer.
