Found in Costa Rica as a small to just medium sized, cool growing epiphyte that blooms in the late summer and early fall.

Often confused with P johnsonii and P herrarae but this species has larger plants that only produce basal inflorescence, yellow sepals with long conspicuous hairs and lanceolate petals. P herrerae has longer acuminate sepals without the conspicuous hairs and has a pair of large uncinate lobes on the lip.
