Found in the Cordillera Oriental of Colombia in Boyaca near the border with Santander at elevations around 2600 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a suberect to horizontal, slender ramicauls with 2 to 3 sheaths at the base and carrying a single, apical, horizontal, coriaceous, cordate-ovate, acute, slightly acuminate, cordate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the late winter through spring on a fascile of successively single inflorescence arising at the base of the leaf through an erect, .4 to .6" [1 to 1.5 cm] long, foliaceous sheath.
