Found in Ecuador and Peru in dry montane woods at elevations of 1600 to 2150 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with stout, terete, erect ramicauls enveloped at the base by 2 to 3, thin, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, elliptica, subacute to obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later fall and winter on a stout, 6.4" [16 cm] long, loose, disitchous, subflexuous, successively several flowered inflorescence arising through a small spathe and has oblique, acute, compressed floral bracts and a densely echinate ovary..
