Found in the Rio de Janiero area of Brazil in humid primary forests at elevations of 300 to 1200 meters as a small to medium sized, warm cool growing epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped for half their lenghth by 3 sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, leatheryl conduplicate, shiny olive-green, ovate, slightly recurved apically leaf that blooms in the late summer and fall on 1 to 2, 4 to 5.6” [10 to 14 cm] long, to 9 flowered inflorescence arising through a spathe
