Common Name The Elegant Pleurothallis
Flower Size .2" [5 mm]
Found in Brazil in original cloud forests at elevations of 900 to 1600 meters as a as a mini-miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with erect,ramicauls enveloped by 3 trumpet-shaped sheaths and carrying light green, oblanceolate, faintly keeled, rounded apically, attenuate below into the base leaf that blooms mid winter through spring on a 2.8" [7 cm] long, 4 to 6 flowered inflorescence carrying almost simultaneously opening, unpleasantly scented flowers.
CAUTION!!!! !For years this orchid has commonly been refered to as P mathidae 1943 or P aveneacea 1908 but research has shown that it actually was described earlier by Cogniaux in 1907 as P elegantula and so this name takes precedence
