Common Name The Charcoal Pleurothallis [Refers to the anterior lobe of the lip]
Flower Size .4" [1 cm]
Found in Colombia and Venezuela on the slopes of the eastern Andes as a small sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte at elevations of 2100 to 2600 meters with slender, erect ramicauls, ancipitous above the middle, enveloped by 3 to 4 tubular sheaths at the base carrying a single, apical, rigid, coriaceous, erect, ovate, rounded base, shallowly cordate leaf that blooms in the winter on a fascile of solitary successive flowers borne on a reclining, .2" [5 mm] long, filiform spathe arising at the base of the leaf and has a floral bract occuring in the winter.
