Common Name Adonis' Pleurothallis [Mythological beautiful male]

Found in Colombia and Ecuador in forests and on road cuts at elevations around 1500 to 3400 meters as a miniature sized, cold to cool growing epiphyte or terrestrial with erect, slender to stout ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, suberct to spreading, coriaceous, ovate to narrowly ovate, acute, basally sessile and deeply cordate leaf that blooms on a fascile of 2 to 4, simultaneous single flowers that are successively appearing and arise through a reclining spathe

This species is similar to P linguifera but differs in the few flowers present at the same time, the dorsal sepal with 3 veins and the lip with more revolute margins.

P adonis, is similar to P deflexa, P siphoglossa, P linguifera, P millei, P grandiflora and P sarcochila in the large sized flowers.
