Common Name or Meaning The Abbreviated Pleurothallis

Flower Size 1/8" [3 mm]

Found in Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in very wet montane cloud forests at elevations of 1100 to 2800 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with a short ramicaul enveloped basally by 2 to 3 close, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, ovate, acute leaf that gradually narrows basally into the elongate petiole that blooms in the summer and fall on a fractiflex, 1 1/4" [3.2 cm] long, successively several, single flowered, inflorescence.

CAUTION Both species represented here have some features of P abbreviata but neither satifies all. The 1 st photo matches Dodson's drawing but no other. The second photo is good for Zelenko but no other.
