Common Name The The Upturned Nose Platystele [refers to the lip shape]

Found in Ecuador and Panama in wet cloud forests at elevations around 1000 to 1600 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3, thin, ribbed, imbricating sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical-obovate, subacute, narrowly cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall and winter on a filiform, erect, to 3.2" [8 cm] long including the filiform .4 to .8" [1 to 2 cm] long peduncle, distichous, distantly and successively several flowered inflorescence arising laterally from the ramicaul and has a thin floral bract.
