Common Name The Plow Share Masdevallia [refers to the apical callus of the lip]

Found Peru without collection data as a mini-miniature sized orchid with slender, erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3, thin, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical, acute, gradually narrowing below into the petilalte base leaf that blooms in the summer and fall on an erect, slender, sharply triquetrous below, obscurely triquetrous above, purple spotted, 8.4" [21 cm] long, congested, successively single, few flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul, with tubular, imbricating floral bracts
