Common Name or Meaning Schudel's Masdevallia [American Pleurothallid Enthusiast current]

Found in Ecuador at elevations around 1400 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical-obovate, subacute, narrowly cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a slender, erect, triquetrous, 5.6" [14 cm] long, subcongested, successively few flowered inflorescence arising from the base of the ramicaul, with a bract at the base and tubular floral bracts.
