Common Name Richardson's Masdevallia [American Orchid Enthusiast current]

Flower Size 3/4" [2 cm]

Found in Peru in moderately cool, wet, montane forests at elevations around 1800 meters as a caespitose, mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths carrying a single, apical, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical, subacute leaf that gradually narrows into the petiole below that blooms in the winteron a slender, erect, triquetrous, single to occasionally 2 flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a basal bract.
