Found in southeastern Ecuador around 1000 to 1700 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3, loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring and summer on an erect, stout, triquetrous, 5.6 to 7.2" [14 to 18 cm] long, congested, successively single flowered, racemose inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul, with a bract at the base and imbricating, subacute, broadly conduplicate floral bracts.
