Found in Azuay province of Ecuador at elevations around 3200 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, broadly elliptical, obtuse, cuneate below into the base leaf that blooms in the fall on an erect, slender, 4" [10 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with a bract near the base, from low on the ramicaul and has a tubular floral bract.
