Found in Ecuador in cloud forests as an epiphyte with erect, stout ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3, loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, elliptical, obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on a stout, erect, 3 3/4" to 4" [9 to 10 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul and carrying a tubular floral bract.
