Common Name or Meaning Manolo's Masdevallia [Manolo Arias Peruvian Orchid Nurseryman current]
Flower Size 2" wide 4.8" long [5 cm wide - 12 cm long]
Found in Peru at elevations around 2500 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with stout, erect, blackish ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, long-petiolate, elliptical, obtuse leaf that is cuneate below into the blackish petiole and blooms on a slender, erect to suberect, 4 3/4" [12 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from near the middle of the ramicaul and having a bract near the base and a tubular floral bract that blooms in the fall and winter
