Common Name Echo's Masdevallia [Greek Nymph]
Flower Size 1 1/4" [3 cm]
Found in Peru at elevations of 2000 to 2700 meters as a small sized, caespitose, cold growing, epiphytic species found with a stout, erect ramicaul enveloped by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical-oblong, subacute to obtuse leaf that narrows gradually into an ill defined, channeled petiole that blooms at most any time of the year with a few successive flowers on a congested, 6 to 12" [15 to 30 cm] long, triquetrous, slender inflorescence with papery, imbricating floral bracts that holds the flowers just above the leaves.
