Common Name Garcia's Masdevallia [Venezuelan Collector of Species]

Flower Size 3/8" [1 cm]

found in coastal Venezuela in rain forests at elevations of 1200 to 1500 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphytic plant is with a slender, erect ramicaul enveloped by 2, loose, tubular sheaths carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, obtuse leaf that is narrowly cuneate below into the petiole that blooms in the winter and summer a single flowered, slender, erect, 1 3/4" to 2" [4 to 5 cm] inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a basal bract and a purple dotted, floral bract with the flower held below the leaves.
