Common Name The Heart-Shaped Masdevallia
Flower Size .8" [2 cm]
Found in northwestern Peru at elevations around 2100 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical, acute, narrowly cuneate below in to the slender petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a slender, erect, triquetrous, 4" to 4.6" [10 to 11.5 cm] long, simultaneous 2 flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract at the base and tubular, imbricating floral bracts.
