Common Name Arias' Masdevallia [Peruvian Orchid Enthusiast and Discoverer of Species - Current]

Found in southern Ecuador and north central Peru at elevations around 900 to 1000 meters as a miniature sized, warm growing epiphyte with erect, slender, blackish ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 short, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, oblong, round to obtuse, basally cuneate into the petilate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a suberect, slender, 3/4 to 1 1/4" [2 to 3 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract near the base and a thin, tubular floral bract
