Common Name or Meaning The Large Flowered Lepanthes
Flower Size .4" [1 cm]
Found in Costa Rica at elevations above 2500 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with erect, ramicauls enveloped by 6 or so lepanthiform sheaths carrying an erect, coriaceous, elliptic, acute, gradually narrows below into the base leaf that blooms in the fall on a 1" [2.5 cm] long, successively single, several flowered inflorescence arising on the back side of the leaf.
Lepanthes grandiflora appears to be closely related only to L. chameleon , which differs in the more hispid cauline sheaths, the prominent peduncles and dissimilar petals." Ames & Schweinfurth 1930
