Found in Loja Ecuador at elvations around 2600 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with an erect leafy above the base stem enveloped loosely by foliaceous sheaths and carrying rosulate, to 5, elliptic to ovate-elliptic, acute, rather thin, basally clasping leaves that blooms on a cylindrical, to 5.6" [14 cm] long, loosely many flowered inflorescence with foliaceous, ovate-lanceolate to elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate, the lower longer than the ovaries and progressively decreasing in size towards the apex bracts carrying rather fleshy flowers.
