Found in southern Hunan province of China and Taiwan in coniferous forests on tree trunks at elevations around 2000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with a short, erect stem carrying nearly tufted, basal, obovate-oblong, acute and unequally bilobed apically leaves that blooms in the winter on a short to .8" [2 cm] long, 3 to 4 flowered, subumbellate inflorescence with the upper part enlarged with 1 to 2 basal sheaths and ovate-triangular, acute floral bracts
