Found in Venezuela, Guyana and Surinam with pyriform pseudobulbs carrying 2 broad, short, obtuse leaves that blooms on an erect, paniculate, 2 to 4 branched, verriculose, densely several flowered inflorescence

This species is a part of the Encyclia oncidioides complex and most likely is a synonym of it along with, Enc gravida, Enc mooreana, Enc stellata, and Enc guatemalensis
