Common Name The Caiximbo Encyclia [Region of NE Brazil]

Found in Para' State in northeastern Brazil growing on rocks at elevations around 400 meters as a small sized, hot growing lithophyte with conical to ovoid-oblong, basally rounded, brownish green pseudobulbs enveloped basally in youth by deciduous, imbricating sheaths and carrying 1, 2 or 3 apical, erect, coriaceous, smooth, narrowly lanceolate, cymbidiform, acute leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on a terminal, erect, 20 to 30" [50 to 75 cm] long, rarely lateral branched, to 10 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate stem-clasping bracts and carrying fragrant flowers.
Similar to E alata but differs in it's lithophytic habit and in it's tapering, triangular, wing shaped lateral lobes of the lip.
