Common Name The Sharp Dracula [refers to the pubescense that arises from points instead of warts]

Found in Antioquia department of Colombia on the western cordillera in cloud forests at elevations of 1600 to 2000 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thinly coriaceous, carinate, elliptical, acute, gradually cuneate into the conduplicate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall, winter and spring on a stout, horizontal, ascending to descending, 12 to 18" [30 to 45 cm] long, loose, successively single, several flowered, racemose inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul and carrying a tubular floral bract and showy, large flowers
