Found in the Dominican Republic in Las Abejas in the Sierra de Baoruco and in Cuba in broadleafed florests at elevations around 1300 to 1500 meters as a small sized, cool growing leafless epiphyte with out leaves and an insignificant stem with numerous, gray-tan, fasciculate, to 12" [30 cm] long roots that blooms in the later fall and earlier winter on 1 to 3, fasciculate, sparsely tuberculate, filiform, rarely branched, subfractiflex, distichous, successively single, laxly up to 2 open at once, to many flowered inflorescence with verrucose, truncate floral bracts and carrying resupinate, yellow flowers.
