Found in Bahia and Espirito Santo states of Brazil as a natural hybrid between C schilleriana and C warneri.

Synonyms Cattleya guttata var. russelliana Hook. 1838; Cattleya × russelliana Mantin 1887; Epidendrum elatius var. russellianum (Hook.) Rchb.f. 1862
