Common Name Heger's Cattleya [Brazilian Orchid Enthusiast and discoverer of species 1900's]
Flower Size 1.4" [3.5 cm]
Found in Minas Gerais state of Brazil as a natural hybrid between C. ghillanyi and C. itambana at elevations around 1700 to 1800 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing lithophyte with ovoid pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, elliptic, apiculate, coriaceous, recurved leaf that blooms in the winter on an apical, 1.2 to 2.4" [3 to 6 cm] long overall, rachis to .4" [1 cm] long, simultaneousl 2 flowered inflorescence arising through a linear-truncate, oblique spathe.
CAUTION - This species would be better placed in Laelia within my taxonomic framework but as of yet it has not been named as such.
