Common Name Carmen's Brachionidium [Peruvian Botanist at Macchu Picchu current]

Found in Peru near Macchu Picchu at elevations of 3000 to 3200 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial in sphagnum moss with a stout rhizome giving rise to a slender, erect ramicaul enveloped by 1 to 2, scurfy, mucronate, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, more or less spreading, coriaceous, elliptical, obtuse with a decurved apiculum, crested and lacerate veined, contracted below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a slender, erect, .6” [1.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from the apex of the ramicaul, with a bract near the middle and an inflated, acute floral bract.
