Common Name or Meaning The Pamplona Prosthechea [refers to the town in Venezuela where it was discovered]
Flower Size 1 1/2" [3.75 cm]
Found in Venezuela and Ecuador at elevations around 1800 to 2700 meters as a large sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte, terresrial or lithophyte with tall, slender pseudobulbs carrying 2 apical leaves and flowers on an erect, terminal, fleshy, rigid, racemose, few to several [to 14] flowered inflorescence with non-resupinate flowers occuring in the summer.
This species and A tigrina are often said to be synonyms but, this species has a squarish notched lip and A tigrina has a rounded lip, thereby separating them as individual species.
